though out the year
High Desert Martial Arts
Academy - Personal Safety Program
Self Defense Seminars
Course Introduction - objectives and expectations
High Desert Martial Arts Academy offers a fast paced, comprehensive personal
self defense classes for men and women with limited time. The course is designed to provide
participants with wide range of experience in reacting to fighting strikes, and
grabbing holds from all sides. As well as practical defense against weapons such
as clubs, knives and guns. The program recycles every three months.
Techniques are derived from Israeli Defense Force training program and modified
for normal civilian use.
Proficiency in defending oneself from an attack
varies from person to person. HDMAA provides the tools for students to defend
themselves in a confident manner without out having to memorize unrealistic complicated techniques. The skills will allow you follow up your basic natural
instincts in responding to danger, with naturally learned techniques to
successfully defend yourself. The goal of the program is to enable participants
to explode from a passive state to an action state
under stress, and to come out of any hostile encounter intact. You will feel much more confident after you complete
this broad-ranged program. Training and fitness with a purpose, giving you practical ways to deal with
threats.
This is a hands-on training course. Every class begins with a brief discussion
on the sessions activities. Followed by a 20-30 minutes of warm up with
stretching and some cardio. The techniques are demonstrated and broken down for
easy understanding. Each technique is practiced by students against pads and
bags then against partners (usually instructors) in slow motion first. Then in
full power and full speed application. The techniques are then built upon in
subsequent classes. Students develop the ability to strike with power and timing
through training with focus mitts in every session. This is not a sport training
program nor will you perform any traditional martial arts style forms, katas,
jumping or high kicks. The program utilizes techniques in everyday use by
law enforcement and the military. Any person of reasonable health will
benefit from this program. Consult your doctor if you have any questions.
All Instruction listed below is included in our normal program, just
